At the 22^nd session, held May 14, 2021, the Council of the University of Novi Sad elected Prof. Dr. Dejan Madić, full professor at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, as the new rector of the University of Novi Sad. Professor Madić will take office on October 1, 2021, serving for the three-year mandate until September 30^th, 2024. The newly elected rector has been a member of the current University leadership, serving as the Vice-Rector for International Affairs.

In the latest procedure for awarding the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, the European Commission made a decision that the University of Novi Sad will be awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027 quality certificate (ECHE), based on the positive evaluation of the application that was submitted earlier this year. Thus, the University gained the right to participate in further funding provided by the European Union through various programmes in the field of higher education.

The University of Novi Sad has been granted one more Horizon 2020 project entitled “Twinning for reaching sustainable scientific and technological excellence in the field of Green Electronics” – GREENELIT (no. 951747).

The University of Novi Sad and the Hebei University of Economics and Business signed a bilateral agreement to establish the China-Serbia Research Institute.
