INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT THE MORNING TEA WITH THE RECTOR

Published: 07 December 2016

International students from the European Union countries are studying at the University of Novi Sad during the winter semester of 2016/2017 through Erasmus+ and Erasmus Mundus mobility programmes. They are spending one or two semesters at one of the Faculties of the University of Novi Sad, and will afterwards return to their home universities which will recognize their credits earned during their mobilities. In addition to international students supported by the European Commission funds, mobilities are also realized at the University of Novi Sad by means of the CEEPUS and Campus Europae programmes as well as bilateral agreements at the faculty level.

In the winter semester during academic year 2016/2017, there are international students at the University of Novi Sad coming from Poland, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Greece, Finland, Czech Republic, Germany, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, FYROM and Kazakhstan.

The reception for international students entitled ʻMorning Tea with the Rectorʼ was held at the Rectorate of the University of Novi Sad on 7th December 2016. International students were welcomed by Rector of the University of Novi Sad, Prof. Dušan Nikolić, PhD. Following the Rector’s keynote address, the students were addressed by Prof. Sanja Stojanović, MD, DSc, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Ivana Vujkov, Head of International Relations Office. On this occasion, appropriate gifts were presented to the students on behalf of the academic community of the University of Novi Sad.

A brief music programme was performed in honour of the international students studying at the University of Novi Sad. The composition ʻWaves of the Danubeʼ by the Serbian composer Jovan Ivanović was performed by the string quartet composed of the students from the Academy of Arts: Katarina Božić – first violin, Nevena Tatomirović – second violin, Stanislava Ćorić – viola, and Nevena Vlaović – violoncello, in the class of Associate Professor Aleksandra Krčmar Ćulibrk. This performance has once again symbolically marked 275 years from the foundation of the Spiritual Academy of Bishop Visarion, the oldest higher education institution in Serbia.
