The 1st of March, 2016, at 12 o’clock, the Exhibition Pavilion of the Central building of the University of Novi Sad

In the Exhibition Pavilion of the Central building of the University of Novi Sad, on the 1st of March, 2016, at noon, an exhibition was opened under the title “Across Serbia with Felix Kanitz”. The exhibition was organized by the University of Novi Sad in cooperation with the National Museum in Belgrade. Professor Saša Orlović, PhD, the Vice-rector for Finances and Organization Processes of the University of Novi Sad, addressed the audience at the opening of the exhibition. The exhibition was officially opened by Mr Johannes Irschik, the director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Belgrade.

The exhibition will be open until the 31st of March, 2016.

Felix Kanitz was an Austro-Hungarian author of travel-memoirs, archeologist, ethnographer, and one of the most distinguished scholars of Southeast Europe. He was imperial Austro-Hungarian Counsellor and the knight of the Order of Franz Joseph; he was awarded the Medal for Science and Art, the Order of the Cross of Takovo, and the Order of St. Sava. He was the honorary member of the Royal Saxon Academy of Sciences.

He was born in Budapest on the 2nd of August, 1829, and died in Vienna on the 8th of January, 1904.
